FEBS Congress 2025 Education Plenary Lecture

The 49th FEBS Congress will feature an education-focused plenary lecture as part of its scientific programme, taking place in Istanbul, Türkiye, from 5 to 9 July 2025.

FEBS Congress 2025 FEBS & IUBMB Joint Education Session

A joint education session titled From challenges to opportunities: Integrating AI in biosciences education will take place during the 49th FEBS Congress.

FEBS Education and Training Joint Workshop

A new FEBS Education and Training Joint Workshop will take place on 18–20 September 2025 at the University of Bergen, in collaboration with The Norwegian Bioscience Society (NBS). Further details will be shared soon.

FEBS Education and Training Conference

The next edition of the FEBS Education and Training Conference will take place on 25–29 March 2026 in Kuşadası, İzmir, Türkiye. More details will be announced soon.

FEBS Education and Training Supported Society Events

The second call for proposals for FEBS Education and Training Supported Society Events in 2025 is now closed. The approved applications will be announced soon.

The next  call for proposals for FEBS Education and Training Supported Society Events in 2026 will be open September 15-Dec 15, 2025, for events taking place between January and June 2026.

Recent FEBS Education events

FEBS Education and Training Joint Workshop

İzmir 2025: ‘Education Workshop on Safe Learning Environment: Bridging the Gap Between Learning Partners’ took place on 28 February – 2 March 2025 at İzmir University of Economics, Türkiye. The event was jointly organised by the FEBS Education and Training Committee, the Turkish Biochemical Society (TBS) and İzmir University of Economics.

It focused on inclusive, student-centred teaching in the life sciences and offered interactive sessions on in-class strategies, equitable assessment, introspection, and doctoral education.

‘ATHENS: Approaches in Transformative and Holistic Education for Novel Science’, took place in Athens, Greece, 18–19 October 2024. It was a FEBS Education and Training joint workshop co-organized by the Hellenic Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HSBMB), with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”.

FEBS Education and Training Supported Society Event

Sarajevo 2025 – The NEXT Generation Biotechnologists
The NEXT Generation Biotechnologists: Skills of Future Educators took place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 22–23 May 2025. The event was organised by the Association of Biochemists and Molecular Biologists in Bosnia and Herzegovina and focused on developing future-ready teaching skills in molecular life sciences.

Tunis 2025 – Innovative Tools in Modern Science Education
A national-level workshop on Innovative Tools in Modern Science Education took place in Tunis, Tunisia, on 1 February 2025, bringing together educators and researchers to explore emerging educational technologies and strategies for engaging students in the molecular sciences.

FEBS and IUBMB Education Special Session at the 48th FEBS Congress, Milano, Italy

‘From passive students to active learners: reimagining education with student-centered tools and unlocking engagement in the digital age’; 2 July 2024. Details of the session and speakers are given on the FEBS Congress website here.

FEBS Education and Training Conference

The inaugural FEBS Education and Training Conference (FEBSETC) took place in Antalya, Türkiye, from 20 to 23 March 2024. This pioneering event brought together educators and scientists to exchange ideas and best practices in molecular life sciences teaching and learning through plenary lectures, panel discussions, workshops and roundtables. As a result of the discussions, a white paper was developed outlining key challenges, opportunities and action plans for transforming education in the field. It is available here.
