Long-Term FEBS Fellows
With the launch of the new FEBS Excellence Award scheme in 2021, the FEBS Long-Term Fellowships scheme, previously supporting long-term visits for the purpose of scientific collaboration or advanced training, is now closed to new applications. Researchers recently awarded FEBS Long-Term Fellowships continue to be financially supported by FEBS for the duration of their Fellowships, as set out in the Long-Term Fellowships terms and conditions. In addition, FEBS supports and encourages interaction of current and former FEBS Long-Term Fellows through a FEBS Fellows Meeting and a FEBS Fellows room on the FEBS Network. Furthermore, virtual get-togethers in 2021 to discuss career-related issues are currently being planned.
FEBS Fellows Meeting
FEBS Fellows Meetings in Spain in 2012, France in 2014, Israel in 2017, and Poland in 2019 brought together invited current and former holders of FEBS Long-Term Fellowships to present their research findings, exchange ideas informally, be inspired by invited speakers and discuss scientific careers. A report of the most recent meeting can be found on page 22 of FEBS News November 2019. The next FEBS Fellows Meeting is expected to take place just ahead of the IUBMB–FEBS–PABMB Congress in Lisbon, Portugal in July 2022. Selected Fellows will be invited to participate by the FEBS Fellowships Committee in autumn 2021.
FEBS Fellows 'room' on the FEBS Network
A private community space on the new FEBS Network for current and recent FEBS Long-Term Fellows provides a forum for Fellows to make contact with each other. For more information, including mentoring possibilities, please contact the room overseer and former FEBS Fellowships Chair, Prof. Andreas Hartig.
