FEBS Short-Term Fellowships support scientific collaboration, advanced training and access to techniques not available at the applicant’s home institution, with a particular emphasis on fostering new collaborations between laboratories within the FEBS area. From 2027, the FEBS Short-Term Fellowships programme will move from a rolling application system to two annual calls.

The fellowships are available to:

  • PhD students (with at least one published paper as main author strongly recommended), and
  • Early-career researchers who obtained their PhD within the previous four years and have a strong publication record.

Successful applicants receive funding for research visits of up to two months (or exceptionally three months when justified), including:

  • €100 per day towards subsistence costs.
  • €300 towards travel expenses.

The new schedule will include two calls covering research visits taking place between March 2027 and February 2028. Applicants are encouraged to select the call that best aligns with the planned timing of their visit and to apply as early as possible.
