The Moldovan Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

The Moldovan Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is an Associate Member Society of FEBS.

Mission & Vision

The Moldovan Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSBMB) is a public and non-profit organisation established for the public benefit, to advance research and education in the science of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and to help all members of the society to express their creative potential and assure the progress in practical application of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in medicine, agriculture and food industry for increasing economic potential of the country.

Key Activities

In 2002 and 2005 the society organised for its members two symposia. The first was “Advanced Biological Technologies and their Impact in Economy”; the second symposium was international with participation of scientists from eight countries. The materials of both Symposia were published.

With the recommendation of the MSBMB, grants were obtained for young scientists to participate in 12th Congress of Federation of European Societies of Plant Physiology (1 grant) and to attend the FEBS Advanced Course 02-11, “Basic Methods in Yeast Genetics and Molecular Biology”.Strasbourg, France, July 2002.

History

MSBMB was established in 1998, and was accepted as an associate member of FEBS at the 42nd Council meeting in Lisbon in 2001.

Membership

MSBMB has 138 members (2021). The members represent 7 different organisations and include 49 young specialists (aged up to 35) and 28 younger than 45. MSBMB accepts as a member, scientists of other nationalities who live and work in Moldova and members who live and work in other countries, and are of another nationality.
