FEBS 50th Anniversary Books
FEBS marked its 50th anniversary year in 2014 with the production of two celebratory books:
FEBS at 50: half a century promoting the molecular life sciences
FEBS at 50: half a century promoting the molecular life sciences, edited by Mary Purton (FEBS Open Bio Executive Editor) and Richard Perham (The FEBS Journal Editor-in-Chief 1998–2013), provides a snapshot of the origins of FEBS and its work over its first 50 years, with contributions from both those working on behalf of FEBS and those who have benefited from the scientific training and diverse support offered.
The book was displayed as a flipbook on the website until early 2016, and can now be downloaded as a pdf version. A limited number of printed copies are also available.
Fifty Years of FEBS – A Memoir 1964 to 2013
In addition, Fifty Years of FEBS – A Memoir 1964 to 2013, by Guy Dirheimer and Horst Feldmann (past long-serving FEBS Officers), is available to download as a pdf.
Building on an earlier book on the history and development of FEBS by Horst Feldmann published for the 40th anniversary of FEBS in 2004, and with some 500 pages of text, figures and tables, this new compilation forms a comprehensive archival record of the full range of FEBS activities since 1964, but with particular emphasis on the ten years leading up to the 50th anniversary.
Production of pdf and ePub versions of the book was a gift from the publisher Wiley. The e-versions were distributed to all participants of the FEBS–EMBO 2014 Conference in Paris on USB cards.
