The FEBS Journal – Editorial Manager, Cambridge, UK
The FEBS Journal is the flagship journal of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS). It has a 50-year history of publishing high-quality reviews and primary papers in all areas of the molecular life sciences.
We seek a full-time Editorial Manager to lead The FEBS Journal’s editorial office team in the FEBS offices in central Cambridge, UK. Reporting to Editor-in-Chief Seamus Martin (Trinity College Dublin), the Editorial Manager will work closely with our publishers and Editorial Board members to uphold high editorial standards and offer excellent service to our authors, referees and readers.
The appointed person will be responsible for:
- Overseeing editorial activities and solving editorial and ethical issues as they arise
- Monitoring editorial and journal performance, and preparing regular reports and statistics
- Line management of editorial office staff
In addition, the person will assist with:
- Writing Research Highlights and Editorials, as well as news items for FEBS
- Promoting the journal through institute visits and attending conferences, including the annual FEBS Congress
- Organising and attending the annual editorial board meeting

Applicants should have a PhD in structural or molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or a related discipline. Previous editorial experience, including familiarity with online manuscript submission systems, is strongly preferred.
The salary is negotiable according to qualifications and experience. FEBS offers an additional personal pension provision of 15% of salary.
