FEBS Open Bio announces new prize schemes
FEBS Open Bio maintains strong links with the annual FEBS Congress, which provides an international forum for the exchange of scientific knowledge across the molecular and cellular life sciences. The journal is dedicated to giving back to the scientific community, and support of the FEBS Congress is an integral part of that mission. In addition to publishing all Congress abstracts as a separate supplement on the journal website, from 2021 FEBS Open Bio will be supporting the FEBS Congress – as well as recognizing excellent research work, particularly from early-career researchers – with the following new prizes:
The FEBS Open Bio Article Prize
The FEBS Open Bio Article Prize will be awarded annually to an early-career researcher (either a PhD student or a postdoctoral researcher within 5 years of receiving their PhD) who is the first author of a paper of especial interest and importance published in FEBS Open Bio in the preceding year, as decided by the editorial board. The prize consists of a bursary for registration, travel and accommodation to allow the winner to attend the FEBS Congress.
FEBS Open Bio Speed Talk Prizes at the FEBS Congress
The FEBS Congress provides opportunities for participants submitting abstracts to the event to be selected to deliver brief talks about their research. Prizes for two outstanding speed talks will be awarded by FEBS Open Bio at the FEBS Congress. A panel of jurors from the journal’s editorial board will attend each shortlisted speed talk and judge it based on the interest and novelty of the work and the quality of the presentation. Each winner will receive €200, to be presented at the Congress Closing Ceremony.
