MSBMB was established in 1998, and was accepted as an associate member of FEBS at the 42nd Council meeting in Lisbon in 2001.
In 2002 and 2005 the society organised for its members two symposia. The first was “Advanced Biological Technologies and their Impact in Economy”; the second symposium was international with participation of scientists from eight countries. The materials of both Symposia were published.
With the recommendation of the MSBMB, grants were obtained for young scientists to participate in 12th Congress of Federation of European Societies of Plant Physiology (1 grant) and to attend the FEBS Advanced Course 02-11, “Basic Methods in Yeast Genetics and Molecular Biology”.Strasbourg, France, July 2002.
