Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology: 50th anniversary
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM) is organizing a program of activities to be carried out throughout 2013. These projects include:
• the launching of "50 years, 50 molecules" , a new section in the SEBBM´s website where site visitors are able to vote for their favourite molecules among the 50 shortlisted (http://www.sebbm.es/EN/divulgacion-ciencia-para-todos_10/molecula-del-mes_780);
• the exhibition "Molecules of Life: 50 years of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Spain", a temporary exhibition seeking to bring basic educational concepts of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to a wide audience (its opening will take place on September 2 at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid, coinciding with the celebration of SEBBM´s Congress) (http://www.sebbm.es/EN/50-aniversario_16/exposicion-moleculas-de-la-vida_803);
• and the lecture series "SEBBM´s Fiftieth Anniversary", 12 lectures held between January and November 2013 in some of Madrid´s most emblematic buildings, seeking to review the history of the SEBBM and its participation and contributions to Spanish society over the past 50 years, and to analyse from different viewpoints the present and future of scientific research (http://www.sebbm.es/EN/50-aniversario_16/conferencias-cincuentenario-sebbm_799).
