April 15, 2007 - Molecular Oncology launched at the leading cancer research congress, AACR, in Los Angeles

Each year, journalists from around the globe mark their calendars for the AACR Annual Meeting - the premier meeting in the cancer field.  Medical and science reporters save the date in anticipation of breaking news, features, trend stories, and press briefings from many of the world’s top cancer scientists and clinicians.

The 97th Annual Meeting, held April 1-5 2006, in Washington, D.C., resulted in more than 3,200 news stories appearing on major wire services, leading national and international newspapers and magazines; network broadcasts and affiliates in the U.S. and overseas; and on radio and Internet outlets. There is every sign that 2007 can be expect to set new records.  This year, FEBS had its own news to share with the world...

Through an email campaign, advertisements in various leading journals, an announcement in the Programme Book and many personal invitations, people were encouraged to visit the Elsevier Booth to pick up an Information Pack, consisting of an attractive Molecular Oncology Notepad, pen and information sheet with a list of titles and abstracts from the first issue, which is due online May 14.   All marketing materials were designed to drive traffic to the www.MolOncol.org website with free access to Articles in Press, which already has witnessed hundreds of visitors as a result.   Well over 2,000 registrants signed up for receiving more information on the new title, which can be seen as a clear sign of success and interest in this new title published by FEBS.

Molecular Oncology's Editor-in-Chief, Julio E. Celis, was present at the booth to answer the many questions and talk to prospective authors.   The new journal has taken off with a good start.  Work has meanwhile commenced on generating content for the second issue.

A further major presence is planned for the Annual FEBS Congress in Vienna and the ECCO Clinical Oncology Congress in Barcelona in September.  We look foward to meet you there!
